The beauty of this object is in its detail and layers. Every look will bring new surprises. Each layer is lovingly laid down, allowed to dry and then the next layer until complete.

The first layer is collage and incorporates fine Japanese papers, hand-dyed paper, pieces of vintage sewing patterns and a fortune from a cookie that reads "You have an active mind and a keen imagination." The second layer is chalk pastel drawings which is fixed using acrylic gel medium. Numerous layers of acrylic paint is applied to add detail, texture and pattern. Beads are then attached to give a little sparkle. Each fish gets a couple layers of water-based varnish to protect the collage.

This little fishie was hand cut from scrap wood. The predominant colours on this fish are pinks and browns.

Sit this fish on a shelf, bookcase or side table for a beautiful and unique accent in any home or office.
