This little fishy was hand cut from scrap wood. The beauty of this object is in its detail and layers. Every look will bring new surprises.

Each layer is lovingly laid down, allowed to dry and then the next layer until complete. The first layer is paper collage including pieces ripped from fine Japanese papers, an incense package, a Toronto transit transfer, a hand-written letter and dried flower petals.

The second layer is chalk pastel drawings which is fixed using acrylic gel medium. Numerous layers of acrylic paint is applied to add detail, depth, texture and pattern. Beads are then attached to give a little sparkle. Each fish gets 4 layers of water-based varnish to protect the collage.

The predominant colours in this fish are purples and pinks.

This little fish stands on its own and makes a beautiful and unique accent in any home or office.
