The beauty of this object is in its detail and layers. Every look will bring a new surprise. Each layer is lovingly laid down, allowed to dry and then the next layer until complete.

The first layer is collage and incorporates ripped pieces of fine Japanese papers, retro patterns, sheet music and claim check numbers. The second layer is chalk pastel drawings which is fixed using acrylic gel medium. Numerous layers of acrylic paint is applied to add detail, texture, depth and pattern. Beads and thread are then attached to give a little sparkle. Each fish gets 4 layers of water-based varnish to protect the collage.

This little fishie was hand cut from scrap wood. The predominant colours on this fish are purples and pinks.

There is a small hole drilled in the nose for hanging or it can stand on its own. This item makes a beautiful and unique accent in any home or office.
